This originally started as a place for quick updates to notify family, friends, and loved ones while my dad was in the hospital. He is home, back to working regularly, and has no set restrictions of diet. He continues to endure some episodes of moderate to severe pain, but has been prescribed medication to ease the discomfort. Now that he's been released from the hospital (it's actually been a couple weeks, sorry for not mentioning sooner), I'd like to continue documenting life, as it happens. A lot has happened within the last month or so, with hardly any time to breathe, let alone sleep.
Between the heavy travel, impulsive shopping, and cocktail hours, I've somehow found time to reconnect with my website and attempt to make it more personal, rather than merely just a portfolio site. As you can possibly tell (depending on how long you've checked in here), there has been a redesign. Yes, a redesign. Nothing too strenuous or overly enthusiastic, but a personality I feel better suits my own. I have yet to update my portfolio section with recent works, but it'll happen in due time. It is currently midnight on a Wednesday and I've been on a computer for roughly 15 hours now. There are exciting opportunities at this moment, and I wish to share them with you.
First: alice galleries
This really is not a new opportunity, but a continually blossoming project. What began as a conversation over coffee has now become a widely recognized gallery, showcasing the works of incredibly talented artists throughout Chicago, including Adam Umbach, Thomas O'Gorman, Lucia Adams, Layne Jackson, Peter Axelsen, and Jay Miller. As of now, alice has successfully presented two gallery showings, at Luxbar in historic Old Town and the most recent, Kiki's Bistro on Franklin, which occurred on Monday, Dec 2nd. The group of people is exquisite and the atmosphere is inspiring, certainly a social scene. The next scheduled gallery show, to my knowledge, is tentative, but may be near the beginning of the new year. Go to alicegalleries.com to learn more about what it is we do, as creatives, artists, and fine art nerds.
Second: New camera!
Not really too exciting, but I fought the devious Black Friday Target shoppers for it, so it's like a medal. I earned it. Anyway, I wanted a nice camera to shoot real photography, something with more manual options than a digital point-and-shoot. So, I bought a Canon EOS Rebel T3. Honestly, I'm really excited because it shoots motion picture as well. VIDEO. Hello, YouTube. HAH, just kidding. Maybe. I'll post some photos once I've downloaded them, but for now, I can't stop taking pictures, so there are a lot of images. Whoops. Merry Christmas!
It's in 20 days. Less than 3 weeks. That's all.
Happy Holidays to you!
